{THE GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED}
A blessed Epiphany to you!
I am still considering myself on break here, mostly because my time is totally taken up with the continual organization/cleaning/restoring of the kitchen! Next week I hope to be back here with all the usual conversations, corners, and links.
Right now, I have a giveaway to offer you of a lovely Catholic planner … keep reading!
And I will give you all the details of the new space, I promise! I don't think I will be able to help myself, to tell you the truth. The total newness of everything is not my usual vibe, which is Use Up, Wear Out, Make Do, Do Without, but at the same time, the necessity of it all has caused a lot of thinking in this old brain, and who am I not to spill it all out here, with you?
For now, here is a little taste of how it's looking.
Okay, the planner!
You know the beautiful liturgical art calendars you have been enjoying for a while now? These planners use the same art!
They are beautiful. The Fiat Traditional Catholic Planner is described this way:
It is the daily planner you’ve long had on your wish list. The creators of The Illustrated Liturgical Year calendars have designed this traditional planner with beautiful illustrations for every feast, large paintings for each month’s dedication, a prayer of the month, Scripture verses, and quotes from the saints. Your handy weekly planner has just met the beauty and richness of the liturgical year!
For all the details, go here.
It has what I want, which is a spiral binding, sturdy covers, nice paper, monthly tabs, the week at a glance, monthly calendars… along with beautiful art throughout, and liturgical information too (according to the 1962 traditional Catholic liturgical calendar).
(I would rather have Scripture than the “inspirational quotes” found in most planners, which sort of ruin them in my opinion… )
I haven't had a chance to apply my tabs yet! But I wanted to share with you!
It comes in two sizes. I like the smaller one because I do pop it into my bag occasionally. I could see the bigger one being useful if you wanted it on the desk (both versions have a pocket page in the back, something I require, being an inveterate grabber of little scraps of paper and keeper of prayer cards etc).
I appreciate having the liturgical calendar right there with my day-to-day planning.
Right now, Sophia Institute Press is offering 20% off your order. (You will see the offer when you go to the home page.)
When the giveaway is over, I will be offering a discount code as well.
To enter for a chance to win the planner of your choice, simply leave a comment here with your preference and I will choose a winner at random next week!
As you make your plans (with a planner?) and resolutions, here is an older post from the archives with some of my thoughts about how to understand and direct your energy: An Epiphany Thought: Overstimulation

I love the large size! I had Liturgy of the Home’s calendars for 2 years, but I couldn’t afford them this year. The illustrations are so worth it!
Virginia says
Large!! ❤️
Arenda says
Love the big size, too!

Rhebeka says
You have discovered the planner I’ve been looking for! I would use the large size. It is beautiful. What a gem.
Lisa says
I have several Catholic planners but they are too large to carry. I love the color illustrations as well. My planners are all B&W.
Abigail says
Large size! Thank you!
Emily S says
Hello Leila! Young new mother here: just turned 23 with a 3 month chunky boy. I started following your blog after getting your Summa Domestica series as a wedding gift in 2022!
I’ve seen these planners but never used them before! Since my husband and I are getting dumb phones this spring, thought I’d give old fashioned planners a go!
I’d like the smaller one (so I can pop it into my bag like you do ☺️)
Andrea says
Oh, I’d love the small size so it could easily travel along with me to all the activities that will be planned! What a lovely planner
Deb H says

Jessica says
Your kitchen looks so amazing, I can’t wait to see the rest of the pictures! I’m very interested in that range…
The planner looks so beautiful–I am currently on the hunt for a new planner for this year, and the art in this one looks so lovely. I suppose I would probably use the bigger size, since I am carrying a diaper bag around anyway and mostly using it at home.
Karina M. says
Beautiful and just what I’ve been looking for! I would prefer the small size.
Mary Claire H. says
I would like the smaller size. I tried a Catholic planner one time, but it fell apart mid-year. It sounds like this one might be sturdier
Lisa says
They look beautiful! And useful at the same time! Smaller size!
Nadege says
How I would LOVE to own the large size.
BTW, kitchen is marvelous!
Mrs. Badger says
What progress in the kitchen, and how lovely it looks!
I would love the large planner.
Can you explain the difference between 1962 liturgical calendar and the current one? Is it still useful for those of us who attend a Novus Ordo mass? More saint days sound great to me.
Leila says
Perhaps this article can help answer your question (it’s a bit contentious in tone, but that is because of the continued narrative that the only difference in the new calendar is added saints — keep in mind that in the traditional calendar, a votive Mass for any saint can be offered unless superseded by an obligatory feast, which is the same in the new calendar anyway): https://www.newliturgicalmovement.org/2014/01/much-discussion-these-days-on-novus.html
Stephanie says
Hip, hip! A devotional planner following the ’62 liturgical calendar. Large print, please.
(I thought I’d already commented some minutes ago, but it hasn’t yet appeared. So, here’s a second attempt.)
Thank you for the opportunity; and, I love the whitewashed brick surrounding the cozy wood-burning stove.
Elizabeth Helmin says
Your home is so cozy and inviting. Like someone else here commented, that stove 😍
I have been admiring this planner as people have been posting it on IG. I have yet to find the perfect Catholic planner and have tried several. This one looks lovely, and has tabs too?!?? I would love a chance to win the smaller size since I keep my planner out on the countertop during the day… and this would be a joy to look at! Thank you for doing this giveaway.
Jennifer says
I’ve never had a religious planner, but I think it would help me remember the focus and center of each day…the big picture! I would love the larger one.
Sarah says
I would love the larger one. More space to write.
Jean Galmish says
Yes I would like the small one. I could use some inspiration for organizing, and spiritual growth.

Elizabeth says
Ooh—hard to choose, but probably the small one!
The kitchen looks amazing! I can’t wait to see more.
Ashley says
Lovely kitchen and lovely planner! Thanks for sharing. I think I’d prefer the large size.
Mrs. Bee says
Feel free to talk about and show every nook and cranny of the new kitchen as much as you want! I think the island is a masterpiece… And as someone who can’t have a gas stove put in without incurring exorbitant costs, I will enjoy your happiness vicariously. It will be especially interesting to hear what has changed for you in the way you use the kitchen, and what has stayed the same.
I prefer using an academic year planner, so I’m bowing out of the giveaway – but we daily enjoy their liturgical calendars.
Merry Christmas and a very happy new year, Leila!
Laura says
Beautiful kitchen!
Lovely planner, also. I would like the small one!
Kitty says
I would love to win the big planner!
Moira says
This planner is amazing! I have gifted it twice. And I know the artist a little bit 😊
Cindy Jacobson says
Thank you so much for sharing your kitchen renovations with us; they are beautiful and inspiring! A number of years ago we built our home so I do understand the need to pay attention to so many little details (and some very big ones too). Thank you for inspiring us in the little details of homemaking!
The Planner looks fabulous; I like that it is the Liturgical version for 1962 as I don’t have anything with those details other than my Mass Missal and sometimes I do get confused about what is happening Liturgically so I will note this planner for future ordering. If I were to get one it would be the large size to use in my writing office.
Thanks again for all your sharing of Summa Domestica details with us!
Molly B. says
Hello Leila, I love the look of the new kitchen, and can’t wait to hear about the details!
I plan to read your older post about Epiphany and overstimulation and resolutions to be less busy/overstimulated when I am less busy/overstimulated. LOl! In the meantime I will prepare for our Epiphany Mass with Dom Gueranger’s meditation. Thank you!
I would love to win this planner, but will keep an eye out for your discount code once the giveaway ends. Thank you for this lovely chance for your readers.
Merry Christmas and Blessed Epiphany!
Anna L says
You had me at pockets! I too am a collector of little bits & pieces of paper. I prefer the small size because I do need to bring it along to help schedule appts.
Nina says
My small, old family would benefit from the small planner. Thank you, Auntie Leila
Dinh says
Would like the small one!
Emily says
Thank you! I think I’d go for the smaller size!
Mary says
I would love either size planner, although smaller would probably be better.
I really love your island and hope to see more of a walkthrough. I love seeing practical changes (and I hope I can make similar to my own kitchen in the future). Many kitchens just aren’t made with people that really cook much in mind (or big families).
Megan says
Thank you for sharing this! I think the larger planner would be lovely for my desk.
Suzanne says
Happy Epiphany! Thank you for sharing this giveaway with your readers. Like you mentioned, the smaller planner would be great to pop in a bag. Best wishes!
Leah says
This isn’t the point of the post, but which flour/grain mill do you have sitting in your counter?
Sleepy Prairie Mama says
Beautiful and practical! Order and Wonder! 🙂 Large please.
Toni Graham says
Lovely planner – and what a coincidence .. I’ve been shopping for a calendar and have not been able to find one !
I would like the larger size.
sibyl says
Oh, it’s been a long time since I had a planner, but this is definitely the one I want. (For a while now we have been just using a large paper calendar hung in the kitchen. Since we do attend the Latin Mass I would like to keep track of the feasts better, and especially the Ember Days, which I hope to observe this year.
Small size works better for me. Hooray!
Amy B. says
Your kitchen is gorgeous!!

Smaller planner! Mine lives in the kitchen with limited space
Annie says
I would love either planner size!
My, the kitchen looks beautiful! Would love to hear your decision process on the dark countertops- I always think “hard water marks,” but perhaps that is not an issue where you live- or, as I think about it, maybe it’s more of a problem in bathrooms with toothpaste! Anyhow… It is stunning. I hope you are enjoying the process!!
Claire says
Small size for better portability
Michelle says
I would like the large.
Kathryn says
I tried leaving a comment last night but don’t see it, so I’ll try again!
Just wanted to say thank you for sharing the link about your post on overstimulation. I wish I’d seen that particular one BEFORE my husband’s week-long trip out-of-state. I’m feeling a bit frazzled after having our 5 kids (10,8,5,2, & 2mo) on my own, and now I see all the ways I could’ve been MUCH better prepared.
And THANK YOU for offering the giveaway, that planner is absolutely beautiful. The big one would suit me, I tend to leave mine open on the counter an consult it throughout the day.
Katie Tobey says
Beautiful! I would love the small one, to be
able to throw it in my bag when off with the little children!

Can’t wait for details on the kitchen and lots of pictures! Your renovations are so fun to watch unfold. I’m so happy you’re wrapping this project up and can use that kitchen again!
Sarah says
Your kitchen is looking just beautiful! I’m excited to see more pictures and hope that you will post lots and lots. I also tend toward reusing and making do, but I’m married to a delightful man who believes in good tools and equipment. It’s still hard for me to wrap my mind around buying the expensive but good tool once instead of buying junk, but I’m sure coming around to his point of view! Your kitchen looks like a gem and will only get more beautiful with patina, I’m sure.
Happy Epiphany!
Stephanie says
I want to need the smaller one but I am pretty sure I need the bigger one.
We get their calendars from Sophia and the kids love them! I always get reminded promptly when it’s time to change to a new page. I loved that they had a whole page just for the 12 days of Christmas!
