The weekly “little of this, little of that” feature here at Like Mother, Like Daughter!
(This will all look and work better if you click on the actual post and do not remain on the main page.)
Bopping in here to deliver your {bits & pieces} and then — off to plant my seeds and boil my sap! And all the other million things that must be done now!
I have a brilliant idea for a DIY little greenhouse that I need to put together today — or else it's a complete failure and my family will mock me forever. We shall see. If it works, I will certainly post about it!
So far we have a gallon of syrup! Still have a lot to boil, though… off I go!

- Christopher Dawson on 19th-Century Critics of Liberalism. Bradley Birzer looks at Dawson's estimation of “four forces worked against the growing power of liberalism, to varying degrees of success: the rise of Evangelicalism; the anti-Revolutionary traditionalist thought of Edmund Burke and Joseph de Maistre; and the Romantic movement; and John Henry Cardinal Newman.”
- For thoughts on divorce and annulment, I recommend you follow my friend Leila Miller. And I continue to recommend her book Primal Loss (she will give you a digital copy for free, no strings — just email her). (affiliate link)
- I have a friend who was despairing over the growing realization that she seemed to be allergic to… everything. But then she found out that she's allergic to raw fruits and vegetables because of the pollens their proteins mimic. Now she just cooks the things that previously made her feel terrible.

- Wondering what on earth you gave up for Lent? (This often happens during the Third Week — you're not alone!) Here's my suggestion if you need something quick to get back on track , and I bet it is better than whatever it is you forgot.
Today is the feast of St. John Climacus and St. Quirinus of Neuss. Tomorrow is Laetare Sunday, the Fourth Sunday of Lent in which we rejoice that Easter is drawing near. Definitely a day to have a little extra something to lift everyone's spirits! I'm making Dorie Greenspan's Coconut Tea Cake (do you have her Baking book? — affiliate link — Very nice!) — possibly with the lime addition.
