~ Capturing the context of contentment in everyday life ~
Every Thursday, here at Like Mother, Like Daughter!
Things are looking very {real} here at LMLD Midatlantic these days.
The Quack is doing a 4-month-long rotation at a hospital in Houston, starting July 1st. We'll be in a furnished apartment down there, so now we're in the throes of packing all our stuff up to put into storage.
I was dreading the move…but I have now reached the point where all I want is just to be THERE. Sure it'll be hot, but I hear the AC is great, and I'm ready for this adventure.
Meanwhile, of course today was the day that our please-last-until-residency-is-done laptop decided starting was too great a task to consider. So it's all phone pictures for today!
I hope I can check in soon and be more chatty, but the technology is not working right now.
We'll drive down all together at the end of the month, packing light and heading out to see some of the South.
Then, after three months of living the Texas life, I'll head back here with Freddie to find a new place and get it all prepared for a new addition to the family!
If all goes as planned, the Quack will join us just in time for a new Dino's arrival in early-to-mid November!
Like I said, jumbo-sized {happy}! I look very serious here because of the annoying and difficult baby bump selfie — please imagine appropriately delighted smile!
{One more day for the giveaway!}

I have yet to move since having children… I can’t even imagine all the work it must involve!
What an adorable bump! Congrats and blessings!
Emily B says
I was hoping your extra large dose of {happy} would be baby news!! So exciting! Hope your move goes smoothly!

Congratulations on the baby! Houston, in the Summer??? I’m just going to boost you by saying there are so many great things to do and see in Houston + you will be very close to beaches. Yes it will be hot, humid and sticky BUT there are pools, and beaches, and air conditioning EVERYWHERE! Wish I was closer, a LMLD meet up would be fun!
I’m just North of Dallas, closer to Rosie!
Mrs. B. says
Yay, Sukie! Congratulations! And for when you come back, I hope you can pick the VA side of the Potomac this time 🙂
Sully says
We moved twice in five months with our baby (and I was pregnant at the time), and it was seriously hard work. I am praying for you girl!
Elizabeth says
Congratulations!! :):):) Nothing happier than baby news 🙂 May the move go smoothly and may you be well throughout your pregnancy 🙂
Jen says
I’m from Houston (though not living there now), and it’s a great city! I hope you enjoy, even with the heat! If you are near the medical center, the museum district isn’t far, and the Children’s Museum has a fun infant/toddler area (and a good way to beat the heat!).
Isabelle says
Congratulations!!! And I bet Freddie is loving all the boxes and mess!
Blair says
I’m in the north Houston suburbs but would love to come into town for a LMLD meetup! Let me know if you need any help with anything! We attend mass in Houston at Our Lady of Walsingham and sometimes at Annunciation downtown. OLW might have available facilities for a meetup.
Kristin says
I second Blair’s idea for a meetup! Holy Rosary in Midtown is a lovely choice that should be close to you. Beautiful church served by the Dominican friars with an altar rail for communion.
Lucy Hines says
And I third Blair’s idea! We also go to Walsingham and live in the heart of Houston. Welcome! And Holy Rosary is absolutely a beautiful church! And join the club of being pregnant in Houston- you will make it just fine in the AC:)
Amy says
I also live in Houston! I go to St. John Vianney on the westside. I am up for a LMLD get-together any time you say go. I am also very happy to help set things up, so if y’all want to do this, but don’t have the time, I can help out, for sure. Yay!
Anne says
Another Houstonian, and college friend of out-law Sister Louise Marie. An early welcome to Houston. We’re not far from the med-center and would love to be helpful if there’s ever a need.
mary says
I’m west of Houston (Hempstead) and wanted to say welcome too! A meet and great would be fantastic! Our parish is Regina Caeli FSSP let me know if you want details for Latin Mass.
We moved many times pregnant and with new baby. It’s all an adventure! Praying for your transitions to go smoothly.
briana says
Eeeppp!!!
I am so, so happy for all of you!
Chere Mama says
Congratulations!!! And good luck with the move. “All will be well, and all will be well, and all manner of things will be well.” That was my mantra when I had to move while being 9 months pregnant. And it WAS all well.
Heather says
Hope your move goes smoothly. Houston has so many fun things to explore!
cmerie says
Congratulations Suki! We are due right about the same time. And my husband will be traveling and back (hopefully) just in time as well. It all just seems to come down to trust, doesn’t it?
Paula says
I don’t know how you gals move around so much! But then again, I grew up in my Great Grandma’s house and now we live in the house where my husband was born and in the county his family has lived in for 200-odd years. We’re not big movers 🙂 Take it easy moving in all this heat.
Valerie says
Wonderful news!
I hope any pray your move goes super smooth.

God bless you! Houston in the summer? I hope you find a nice refreshing pool! Your baby bump is adorable. Congratulations.
Amanda says
Yay, Texas but apologies for the heat! And, moving is so hard! Prayers for smooth transitions and that you are able to get some rest amidst it all. You look great and I love the selfie! I loath selfies and always feel so awkward. I take them here and there and force the funny smiles but gee whiz are they rough! You look great though! 🙂
Stephanie says
Such wonderful news! I am prepping for a big move too and yes…adventure, lol, I keep telling myself it is an adventure. God bless your beautiful growing family!

Congratulations on the newest little one! This seems to be the year for both babies and moves for a lot of people I know, myself included 🙂 Enjoy your brief stay in Houston, with it being such a short visit I bet it’ll be fun to just see the sites and act all touristy for a summer.
Elizabeth says
Excited for you! God bless this little one!!!

Haven’t been here for a while, and just got the inspiration to “check in” — what a wonderful announcement! Congratulations on the new family addition, and best wishes for a successful, smooth move to Houston (where I spent about 12 years when I was a teenager and young adult). I think you are exactly right, regarding this new phase as an adventure — I’m sure there are many wonderful blessing ahead for you all!
