~ Capturing the context of contentment in everyday life ~
Every Thursday, here at Like Mother, Like Daughter!
{pretty}
Little Eleanor and I are both doing great. She's as cuddly as can be, eating like a champ (at one week old, she's already back up to her birth weight), and is even toying with the idea of occasionally sleeping during the night as well as during the day.
(Make no mistake: I'm not talking about sleeping through the night. I'm talking about sleeping at night, at all. The bar is low; my expectations modest. I am hopeful for success.)
I'm recovering well, though I'm very glad for these days with my mother here and my husband on leave. I sit on the sofa nursing the baby and watching them take care of everything, and occasionally wonder how it all will keep going once they're gone.
Not thinking about that right now! Let's look at some baby pictures!
{happy}
I heard these kids coming when they were still halfway down the hallway — Pippo's sneakers slapping against the tile floor as he ran, and Molly's constant stream of “Baby? Baby? Baby! Baby?” that hasn't actually quite stopped yet even now. They are So. Excited. about their little sister.
{funny}
I love how quickly the family photo turned into a baby hat/hospital bed button investigation.
{real}
A Holy Thursday baby makes for a very different sort of Triduum, that's for sure. I wasn't able to go to any of the liturgies, which was not easy for me to give up. But the rest of the family did, of course, make it to Mass on Easter.
I may be the kind of mom who doesn't go to Mass on Easter Sunday (with a 3 day old baby), but I am certainly not the kind of mom who doesn't take pictures of my kids looking cute in their Easter best!

The baby is beautiful. What a blessing! Do you own a baby swaddle? My daughter used and I think it was the secret to her sleeping well. I teased her about putting my grand baby in a straight jacket but I’m now a believer! The velcrow kind are easier (for me) Blessings.

I’d never used one of those Velcro swaddlers before, but they actually gave us one at the hospital, and it’s definitely much easier! Our babies can squirm out of just about any swaddle, but not this one.

Easter and thanksgiving are written all over your faces and photos. How inspiring! Thank you for sharing.

Oh so precious!!! I love the way Molly looks at her sister! Joy on everyone’s face! Congrats!

Molly is such a little doll, and Pip is looking like such a big kid. That always happens when a new one comes home — everyone else looks so grown up! Enjoy your visit with your mom. I remember no. 3 suddenly make things a little more, um…how shall I say? Maybe less organized is it. Not quite enough of my hands to go around. 🙂

Congratulations! And thank you for the “real” regarding Mass attendance that soon after delivery. I felt a little uneasy not going the first Sunday after I had my son- I didn’t, thanks to the good advice of my husband and mom… and you’re right, there’s also that little something-day-old little one that needs you and shouldn’t be out so early 🙂
Rosie says
Honestly, it was really hard – Easter Sunday, you know? I almost tried it, my husband and mom both helped talk me into staying home. And it was good that I did, because not only was Mass longer than usual, but so crowded that they ended up sitting in folding chairs in the gym. Practically speaking, I don’t think I would’ve made it! 🙂

I, too, had an “Easter Baby” and did not take my newborn to Easter Sunday Mass. She was only a few days old and there was NO WAY is was taking that precious bundle out. (She is now sixteen!)
You are a wise and beautiful mother! Congratulations!!!

Such sweetness!!
When I had my last few babies, the others would come to visit and descend like a horde of locusts (even though their father had JUST fed them!) and eat every graham cracker, applesauce,ginger ale, and pudding in the maternity wing fridge.
Thankfully the nurses had great senses of humor about the whole thing.
Congratulations on your newest blessing!

You look wonderful for having just delivered a baby! 🙂 Congratulations! I love the name!
Jessica says
Happy Easter! Your family is so darling! Congratulations on your beautiful new baby!
Kimberlee says
Congratulations Rosie and all of your dear family! Your new bundle is as sweet as can be! The exceeding great joy had by big siblings is a beautiful thing indeed. (Little children always know what’s what in the world like that.) You look super fabulous yourself, and good for you keeping that little one in on Easter. So many folks these days rush right out into the world with a new one it seems, which is not always wise nor best. Love that little dress on Molly! Are those lilies of the valley she is sporting? Beautiful, charmingly vintage-y dress.
Enjoy your Eastertide Babymoon! Deo Gratias!
Rosie says
Yes, lilies of the valley, on a beautiful dress from her Aunt Natasha! Thank you for your kind words!

What a beautiful family! Looking good, mama! 🙂

Congratulations Rosie! She is adorable, and your family is gorgeous. I love the family pic with Pippo the button pusher. My 5 y.o. did just that when her brother was born. Up and down my bed went and I never could get it back to the way it was.
Rosie says
It’s one of the things he specifically remembered about Molly’s birth: the buttons that made the bed go up and down.
Jenn says
What a lovely family. Congratulations!
Kristin says
Congratulations! She is a doll- I love her furrowed brow in the first pic, and that last shot of Pippo & Molly is darling.
Just have to ask…you are (so far) Boy-Girl-Girl. I know Auntie Leila & The Chief started with Boy-Girl and ended with Girl, but what is the rest of the order? I ask because I am also the eldest daughter, had the same number of kids as my mom (5) and we had the exact same order (B-B-G-G-B)!
Rosie says
Funny! Our family is b-g-g-b-g-b-g, and my husband’s (he’s the oldest of 8) is b-g-g-g-b-b-b-g. So, we’re not rocking any boats yet – I guess next baby will choose sides!
Rebecca says
Congratulations! I love the button pushing/hat peaking family photo; not only are the kids priceless, but you and Capt. Pepper have beautiful looks on your faces too.
Tacy Williams Beck says
Oh she is SO pretty! And I *love* the name, our second daughter Frances is Frances Eleanor. I think she looks like you.
Katie says
Congratulations, Rosie and all. Such sweet, funny family pictures. I’m encouraged by this post because our first daughter is about Molly’s age, and we’re expecting our next baby this fall. It’s really great to see pictures of a smiling, loving toddler excited about the baby! baby! baby!
In fact that’s true of so many of your posts, and why the whole LMLD family’s generosity with this blog is so precious, because we can peek at the wisdom and the realities of mothers either a few years or a whole generation further along than we are.
Speaking of which, you gave me a few pointers about a toddler haircut a little while ago. I’m happy to report that it went swimmingly! She’s now sporting a sweet little pixie cut, nice and tidy all around, and was actually thrilled with the whole experience, start to finish. Of course it helped that she sat on daddy’s lap and watched a bit of Disney’s Robin Hood (daddy’s choice) on the iPad. =)

Congratulations, Rosie! Beautiful!
And you look amazing in those hospital pictures. 🙂 Great hair!
