~ Capturing the context of contentment in everyday life ~
Every Thursday, here at Like Mother, Like Daughter!
This little fellow there on my lap? It was hard to leave him.
Isn't he darling? And it was hard to leave my little girl too. Yes, she's a mother now, but she will always be my little girl. I feel that way about all of them, except the boys, who will always be my little boys. That's silly, I know. But there it is.
I did leave, though. I got up early and found my phone charger and put my bags in my car and drove home — quite efficiently, I must say — in time to catch the US-Belgium game! And that includes a detour when I hit some traffic on 95 in Connecticut and had to jog over through some adorable horse country to the Merritt Parkway. Wow, I forgot how amazing the countryside is in those parts.
But I digress.
Now I am home, and let's see what's happening in the contentment department, because I am happy to be home!
{pretty}
It's hot, and I do love the house when it's darkened and then you open the windows strategically to let the breezes in... You can't see it but Roxie is on the floor in between the two windows. That's how you know it's a pretty cool spot, relatively speaking…
{happy}
I went to World Market in Rockville or wherever it is and just had a jar-buying mini-spree. I am going to dry my herbs and put them in these cunning jars.
While I was gone I was thinking about my garden but getting mostly updates on the bees, which had swarmed to a high branch. Not the one they used to swarm to, because that got cut down, but to another high one.
Anxiety. Frustration. Tenterhooks.
They stayed up there for three days and then, quite unexpectedly, returned to the hive!
Joy! Jubilation! Happiness! And now it's hot, so they are bearding the entrance… but still making the Chief happy.
It's just wonderful to have Deirdre and the Finster and the Artist here. Love it. I told the Chief that we couldn't get rid of our sandbox. See? However, the zipline fell down and that's no good. We've got to remedy that.
{funny}
Me: Would you like a pillow?
Him: No, I'm fine.
Later… (Did I mention it's hot?):

These are the pots from maple syruping — you know, back in March. Right there next to the hose… waiting to be washed up…

I love the little jars and could use them too. I have many herbs to dry this year!
Babies everywhere! You are greatly blessed. Congratulations on your new little guy!

I didn’t get a {phfr} post together this week but I enjoyed seeing yours. Congratulations on the new baby–I wouldn’t have wanted to leave either. He is precious and looks perfectly snuggly. Oh, the feel of a new baby!

Ok, I starting reading the other posts and ended up doing one of my own! LOL

The jars, the maple syrup pots, having Deidre and co there – it all sounds perfectly content but, I can’t move off of that adorable photo of Frederick – what a love.

I am so glad I’m not the only one who has finished cleaning up from making maple syrup. I finally did the pot last week, but still haven’t washed the collection containers. Maybe this week I’ll get around to it! Have a great weekend!

I love the idea of drying my herbs, but having no collective memory to begin with, something that is probably so simple seems daunting to me. Someday when you have a chance maybe to can share how you did it. All those pretty jars!

I love that Deidre and family get to be with you! How fun. I also think it’s really wonderful that you were with Sukie for the birth of little Frederick. My mom was able to come stay with us for a week after my second child was born, and I will forever be grateful.

It has been hot here, too. Wading in a tub outside is a good idea!

prettiest jars I’ve seen….my favorite color too….And I need to run right out and get a foot basin, since I moved to a much dirtier surrounding, and my kids love dirt!
Happy 4th
