Every Thursday, here at Like Mother, Like Daughter!
{pretty}
I'm sorry about the snow. I don't know what to say, but I will keep posting evidence that spring is indeed on its way.
{happy}
Is there anything — anything — more delightful than a post-bath baby cuddle?
Excuse me while I go gobble her up.
{funny}
Sometimes you put your polo shirt on backwards by mistake, but it's too early in the morning to fix it because now that you're more or less dressed you suddenly realize you're so hungry that you can't actually do anything more except drape yourself over unlikely pieces of furniture until someone puts some food on your plate. (It's taking so long!)
Some scrambled eggs and toast, a glass of milk, and then maybe we can take another crack at that shirt.
{real}
Can't blame this one on the kid: I apparently dress my baby like she's a four-year-old girl who chooses her own outfits. (Which look, by the way, I totally love. As you can tell by my subconscious channeling of it.)
Must work on my Little Girl Matching Skillz.

My favorite is the picture of Pippo and the baby looking at each other. They’re going to be best friends, I can tell! I am glad I’m not the only one who isn’t match-matchy with her daughter’s outfits – not on purpose, not to be rebellious, but just because that’s kind of how it happens. I’ve decided it’s very London, in as much as I gather about London from Boden catalogs (catalogues) and, well, Austin Powers.
Rosie says
“Very London.”
I like it.
Anne says
I think she looks adorable! And so much like her Daddy! 🙂
Diane says
Pippo has a point with the shirt vs. breakfast thing. Need to fuel up for the day!
Matching is overrated. Besides, the polka dots go with each other, as does the pink in the t-shirt and leggings. There – all three clothing items are connected to one another, therefore they “match”!

She looks as adorable as (actually even more adorable than;)) the quilt she is sitting on. Love these pictures, especially the one of the two of them chatting on the lawn.

I love crazy non-matching little girl outfits. In fact, the trendy expensive brands (that we sometimes acquire by hand-me-down) are kind of non-matching in a cute way anyway. (Red and yellow striped leggings with red and green and blue alphabet blocks on a yellow background?). So, see? You fit right in. 😉
Rosie says
We must be trendier and more expensive-looking than I realized! Excellent.

I love the outfit! My 2 year old has recently started choosing her own clothes, and as long as it’s seasonally appropriate, it’s a choice I’m happy to give her. I think my favorite combination so far has been a fancy, frilly, velvet navy blue dress, with bright pink leggings underneath and a kitty cat shirt on top. Perfection.
I also ADORE the pic of Pippo and Molly together! I’m learning that the best gift I’ve ever given my daughter is a sibling. 🙂

I’ve found the same thing with my daughter – at about age 2, she started being very opinionated about her clothes. I don’t care what she picks as long as the outfit she picks is seasonally appropriate, CLEAN, and reasonably appropriate for the occasion (ie. I won’t allow jeans & character Ts for church, nor will I allow the really dressy dresses for playing outside).
She goes to a private Christian school with a sort of uniform now – but they’re allowed to wear any solid color shirt/sweater they like and tights/leggings can be any color or pattern. So even then, it’s interesting to see the color combinations she puts together.
April L says
Agree re: t-shirts at church and fancy clothes for play!

Babies and Spring! it can’t get any better than that! Lovely photos!

i’m a big proponent of what i like to refer to as mismatched chic (a personal favorite is the patterned leggings underneath ballerina tutu paired with rain boots: princess meets tom boy) either way your cherubs are adorable all around! beautiful 🙂
Lindsey says
Oh, spring! I have faith… faith is the evidence of things unseen, and we are definitely not seeing it yet! PEI got hit last night with our biggest winter storm of the year – 53 cm of snow and winds over 100 km/h. The island is shut down for a second day in a row, and the ploughs are nowhere in sight on our road yet. Any great ideas for storm day activities for a 2 and 4 year old out there? 🙂
But your pictures are lovely! Sun and spring and smiling children!
Annie says
Rosie, I love your writing.

No problem with your little one’s outfit! Its ‘grab bag style’, or ‘pattern mixing’. totally chic 😉

I hereby declare Colorburst Happy Patterns a bonafide fashion.
Now if I could rock it with style, I would. But I’m not 4.

Lovely blossoms! I cannot wait for our trees to begin budding. What sweet photos of the babies. They are adorable.

part of my daughter’s MO has always been to put shirts on backwards — far more often than 50% of the time, so seems to be intentional, and she never wants to reverse it. Now that she’s 5, actually, she doesn’t do that so much, but I always have loved how she puts outfits together and would do likewise if I had that cute little body that everything looks adorable on!
your daughter is truly scrumptious! post-bath is so yummy. makes me want another!
Margo, Thrift at Home says
love the mismatching! I had to learn that it was crazy-making to try to dress my babies in matching clothes 🙂 And my son routinely puts on his pants and shirts backwards – and shoes on the wrong feet. he’s 5 and we take it as mild non-conformity and usually let it alone. I do wonder when he will be mostly right-way-on!
Woman of the House says
Your children are darling! I think I can smell the freshly washed baby smell from here . . .

My SIL was posted in Iraq for a while, and so my middle girl wore a maroon OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM shirt everywhere. Backwards, because she liked to look at the big map and flag that was on the back (now front). She wore that shirt every other day for 2 years. We now have a new FBI shirt with pink letters that fits better, but that maroon shirt is still lovingly in her drawer!
