Every Thursday, here at Like Mother, Like Daughter!
Getting some decorations up, little by little. Like Rosie, I have a Baby Jesus out for the children, but for the high-up delicate nativity, He's safely tucked away. With only Bridget here to keep up with the straw to make His bed softer, he doesn't have much yet… (Of course, I only put everything up a day ago or so. I think she has done more than three good deeds. She is so cute.)
We keep the straw in that tiny porcelain cup that was Grandma's. I was happy the day I figured out such a sweet use for this lone cup!
If you are a child visiting here, please do a good deed and then put more straw in!
It's gotten rainy and sleety and cold and dark hereabouts. Only a few more days and then if it's not so cloudy you can't see to notice, the sun will be making its return.
I mean, it will do that regardless, but it's so cheery when the weather cooperates and you can tell.
I do appreciate my wood stove.
Well, my advice to you is to get quite sick and have surgery. Then friends will bring you brand new Christmas cacti, in bloom or about to bloom. If you are me, you better take a photo quick, because shortly afterwards things might go downhill.
You may or may not notice in my photos that I do not have plants indoors. I am not a plant person. Sometimes I have herbs on my kitchen sill, but that is because Habou fixes them up for me. Eventually they die.
I decided I'm not a houseplant person when Nick was a toddler and thought that diving into the big plants my mother so optimistically gave me was great fun. Then the dog would sort of nose around in the dirt he had spilled. Then Rosie would crawl over and sort of roll in it. And then the plants would die.
So that was about 30 years ago. Maybe now I'd be more up for it, but this house lacks any south-facing windows (I know! Tell me about it! I live somewhere with about 100 sunny days out of the year, and the south side of my house is a huge garage!! What little sunlight there is slants low across the hill and sort of loses what feeble energy it has at the garage. Ugh. I would be a lot more comfy if this were not so), and whenever I have a plant inside it dies.
My real is still that I'm working on getting up to speed after my surgery, but it's okay. I know very well that I'm to be on God's time, and that everyone will understand if things aren't running in their usual flawlessly organized fashion. {snort}
I've actually gotten a lot of energy back and have been doing a certain amount of running around, but my down time feels really productive because I've been knitting a lot too, and even crafting a bit. Of course it all has to be super secret, but I can give you a little glimpse. Don't look too closely!!
Even Bridget has been doing some sitting and knitting with me! Love my girl.
