They finally are up and running again (but dealing with the aftermath), after a week without electricity and several more days without phone and internet. Hopefully things will be back to normal there (and here!) soon.
What is funny is that we didn't take any pictures on the night of our ball! I was so flustered that evening (see below) that I just completely forgot. I was so disappointed — we didn't get pictures last year, either, and it had been my one goal for the night!
Happy Birthday, Marine Corps!

I never would have guessed that that was a fake picture! Good job 🙂

Lovely! Been there, done that (stress for so many reasons on any given year of 30 years (US Navy-YAY!). Such fun! Love your pictures, too. Have been keeping all your/you folks in my prayers. Glad to hear they are all ok. Pippo, as usual, is the cat's meow! Sheryl

LOVE the flowers. Our bush bloomed last week for the last time. Roses are just so beautiful! Mr Pippo is getting so big. He look so much like his Daddy – it's awesome! You my dear looked beautiful. Your jewelry was stunning and so unique. I would love to know where you got it?? Inquiring minds and all.
Happy Birthday Marine Corp! Semper Fi!!

Thanks, Mary! I got my necklace at Macy's about 2 1/2 years ago – I actually wore it in my hair at my wedding!

Way to go leaving Pippo, that can be difficult. Happy Birthday to the Marines! It is so impressive to see them all in their uniforms! But telling us that 10 minutes before you were sitting and watching Top Chef? Rosie, that's just cruel. You look amazing! I know your husband's not a veteran, yet, but I am thinking of all those in the armed forces and their families. Thank you for the sacrifices you all make to protect and defend us.

Thank you, Bethanne. And you're very kind, but keep in mind: my dress just slipped over my head (it doesn't even have a zipper!) and my hair started falling out even before we were done taking pictures (oops!).

I think you have a super power–the ability to look party-ready in mere minutes. There are husbands all over the country who would love to be married to a such a beauty that doesn't need all that time to primp. I know you took more time the real night, but really you are lovely, slip-on dress and hair falling out. I think that's even in fashion–purposely pulling out some of your hair to give it the beautiful-but-real look!

Happy Birthday to the Marine Corp!! And glad to hear your folks are managing.
Your roses – the white, the pale pink – just breathtaking.

I was hoping for pictures from that night, even if they're only well sort of. You are dazzling, the two of you! Happy Birthday Marines.
Sarah says, I really liked the pictures, especially of Pippo in his farm suit from last week. I also like this week's.

Happy Birthday Marine Corps! My two brothers were Marines, one on the east coast and one on the west. I remember many years of gathering up pieces for my sister-in-law's gown and accessories. Fun stuff! The Marines do the ball up right. You and your Lt. look great. One of my brothers was a Marine for a long time — over 20 years and still works with the Marines (though he retired as a Lt Col). We do love our Marines.
Pippo is darling as always. He so reminds me of my oldest son who had a lot of red in his wavy hair at that age. Such a busy boy! I always enjoy seeing Pippo's little boy pants and shirts — brings back great memories of my boys.

I'm so glad no one was hurt in the accident!
And, I have to say, you taking that picture later is hysterical. Such an easy going husband to pose again!
Pippo is giving me a heaping dose of baby fever. That little man is just too cute for words.

I gave him fair warning, but it definitely wouldn't have happened if he hadn't had to put his whole uniform on for another ball. He's not *that* easygoing!

I would NEVER be able to recreate the look of a fancy evening out! They take too much out of me! But I love that you insisted it be done for posterity! Great idea!
When our kids were little and people asked what they should get them for Christmas or birthdays, we used to tell them to wrap up cardboard boxes with tissue paper inside. No one ever did it but it would have been brilliant!

Love your pictures. You look so beautiful with your handsome husband. The roses are gorgeous and, of course, as usual, Pippo is the cutest. The Marines are so awesome.
Colleen says
Your little guy sure does look like his Dad! Wow! Do you see it? I sometimes think those resemblances can be more noticeable in photos than in real life. Those are certainly 2 handsome men 🙂

You made it and that is what counts! you both look great all dressed up!

Happy Birthday USMC! You and your family are beautiful! I love the pic of the roses too. Glad to hear Auntie Leila and her household are ok. I'm getting myself ready for the post about living with no electricity for a week!
