Every Thursday, here at Like Mother, Like Daughter!
This week Habou is chiming in with a post:
{pretty}
Having cut a bunch of lavender, I thought it looked so pretty on the red floor of the porch with the chocolate vine. Love lavender. It is one of the most satisfying flowers to grow and Phil's bees seem to love it. I do recognize the bees, believe it or not!
{happy}
This picture is from last year, when the cone flowers were in full bloom. I was so happy to see butterflies making themselves at home. Can't wait until these flowers are in full bloom again this year. They've doubled in quantity. The beauty of perennials is the spreading each year, so one always has extra plants to fill in spaces or to give away to friends.
{real}
Last week Rosie's brother-in-law, Rob, dug out some winter creeper from this slope which I'm making into a rock garden. If you want to cover a lot of ground and keep down weeds, use winter creeper. Now to get more rocks (I constantly look for large rocks on the side of the road or our lane when driving and load up my car) and replant. A lot of work but I love doing it.
{funny}
I took this picture last year, I think. Anyway, I always laugh when I see it.
Will fell asleep on the couch, with a lot of noise from his siblings in the room, and then gently rolled off without waking up. Very funny.

The lavender is beautiful! Hopefully someday I'll manage to keep a lavender bush alive….

We have an abundance of lavender too! It's not nearly as bright and pretty as your porch and basket shot. What a lovely photo!

Love the Funny! I have had boys roll off the sofa or bed without waking up. It never fails to amaze me…

It still didn't post my thumbnail, but oh well, I'm too sleep deprived to figure it out! The lavender is beautiful, Habou. It is my secret dream to one day have a bed filled with herbs, lavender among them.

What a lovely, gentle post. The lavender is glorious!

This is my first Habou post since finding this blog, and I love it! What a beautiful lavender photo – it's perfect, with the yellow, red and purple.
(so, Amazon sells PLANTS, too?? That one took me by surprise!)
I've been finding it so time-consuming to join in with this every week, that I think I will only do it once a month, but I will still enjoy looking!

I especially love your pretty and funny pics! 🙂

Great pictures 🙂 My husband could roll off the couch and stay asleep too – he sleeps through the boys climbing all over him at least once as week!

I have been wanting to participate, but didn't have any pictures or a camera. Well, I finally have some pictures!

I love your lavender picture too. I've never been able to get lavender seed to take, and am thinking about trying plants.

Your lavender picture is just beautiful! Love the colors. Great post, Habou.:)

The photo of the lavender could be from the pages of a magazine – just gorgeous. A lovely collection of pictures.

Pretty lavender! I harvested mine last week – I'm still annoyed with myself for planting the “wrong kind” (I didn't know there were different kinds, and I didn't plant the one I like the best).
But at least I have lavender of my own, I guess?
Will is such a goober.

Habou, you're welcome to all the large rocks you can find in MY garden! And as a novice gardener, I have to chime in with my own appreciation for cone-flowers and lavender, which survive all kinds of neglect and maltreatment, and even spread!
Habou says
Flying Squirrel, I would love to have your rocks. When I stop at the side of the road to pick up rocks I feel like I'm stealing. Am I? Anyway, Lavender is easy to grow. Poor soil, good drainage, bone meal, and off you go. I've heard crushed oyster shells are good too.
