I was inspired to have a picnic in jars by Rosie's post.
We made it a lot simpler than the recipe but we still had lots of fun.
We had it in early September and it was a really nice warm beautiful day. Mama, Papa, and I did have it the day Rosie posted after all!

I love this idea! The kids would have so much fun thinking of things to "contain." I can imagine them cutting up apple slices to stick in one. Carrot sticks. Cheese cubes. Oyster crackers. I love the olives I think I see in one of your pictures, but I'd be the only one eating them. Oh, we could fill a jar with almonds. So fun!As long as one of the jars is a Nutella jar, then the picnic will be complete, right?

Wow, Bridgie, that looks awesome! What did you put in the jars? I see peas and potatoes in one, and pistachios in another, but I can't decipher the rest. Now I want to have another picnic!

Oh, I'd love to know specifics! You've inspired me to dream about a wonderful picnic once the weather warms up (it's 17 below zero real temp in Chicago today!). I can imagine a whole week of posts about ideas for filling the jars. Of course I don't even have a blog, so I'll throw that ball into your court.(Found your site through "merchant ships" and am just delighted. It's like getting a late Christmas present.)
