Hospitality?
For real?
Not just on the internet?
Okay, here's the deal.
The plan is that I am going to stay with Deirdre for the baby's arrival. My flight is Tuesday.
Maybe the baby won't come till after that, you know?
The risk to you is that the baby will come right then — not before, not after. In which case Sukie will be there to meet you — Deirdre and I won't.
You can still talk amongst yourselves. Trust me, I will tell you exactly what to talk about, and the upside is that you will meet each other — and voila! Your very own pocket will be making itself!
So you and I and Deirdre (maybe) and Sukie (definitely) could meet on Wednesday.
At 7 pm.
In a place to be announced because we are that crazy and only just thought of this and are working on getting a church hall.
We will update this post and any subsequent posts, but meanwhile, make sure you've liked us on Facebook and/or followed us on Twitter and we will keep you posted there as well.
While you shake your head at all the craziness, lack of organization, and unpredictability of babies' arrivals, here is a rundown of what to expect:
- A practical and hopefully short talk on how to build a community of like-minded people right where you are.
- An opportunity to ask your “Ask Auntie Leila” questions in person, so bring the burning ones!
- A chance to meet others — whether single, newly married, starting your family, or well down that road — so if this describes you, you are welcome!
- Specific info on where in the DC area to find the pockets that already exist.
A chance to meet Sukie, Deirdre, and me and marvel at how crazy we are.
It wouldn't hurt if you told us here that you could come, as that would affect the size room we'd try to get! But don't worry, last-minuters are obviously welcome, because that's how we roll.
