I won't be talking to you for a couple of days, so I thought I would pop in and say Merry Christmas now!
There has been some last-minute crafting, contrary to everything I hold dear, specifically making the resolution each Christmas to begin a Christmas project in January, putting it off for eleven and three-fourths months, and then deciding to do it the next year, starting right away in January. And so on…
No, I violated this most basic tenet and used that last week to make new stockings! For many years I've been carting around/hoarding/musing over these wool pieces.
They are from skirts that a friend gave me. What to do with it all?
I've also been contemplating new stockings, but having no idea which way to go, and certainly having no intention of needlepointing, quilting, or otherwise obsessing over what amounts to a lot of work. (Although dear Annie did say, sweetly, “Isn't that a big project to be starting now?” Humbug.)
And I told you I'd be using that ribbon…although I'm not absolutely sure about it, and maybe next year I'll figure something else out. Soon I'll show you a picture in situ, but for now, here you go…
May you all have a wonderful, very Merry Christmas! Check in with you on the other side! XOXO!

Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family! I love your stockings and will use the wool skirt idea. I have a few that are just a smidge too tight in the waist (and hiking them up too high to wear with a sweater just isn't working anymore) but can't get rid of them. Anyhow thanks for all you have shared this season to let us- your adoring readers- enjoy ours better still.

Love the stockings and I think it's a rule to have last minute Christmas Crafts. I've followed it most of my life anyway! 🙂

Merry Christmas! The stockings are adorable.I, too, plan to finish Christmas presents before Advent every year. Guess who locked her little sister out of the bedroom on December 23rd in order to make her present? Yes, me.

I know this was last year, but I'm thinking about throwing together a couple stockings for my two babies…did you just cut around a stocking you already had? Are these lined? I'm trying to get a clear picture in my head of what I'm going for here. 🙂

Hi Rochelle,Yes, I did use another stocking as a template. I have found over the years that a stocking needs to be a little wide (a CD should be able to fit in there, right?) and not too deep. No lining. Just a 1/4" or so seam allowance. Since this wool is bulky, I probably would have been better to cut everything a little bigger, as the wool is bulky and lost a little in the turning.Good luck!
