Every Thursday, here at Like Mother, Like Daughter!
I love fall.
As much as Southern California had going for it in terms of beautiful weather, it had nothing to even compare to a New England autumn. So far we haven't seen any proper fall weather here, either, but we have had some beautiful cool days, which make me very happy indeed.
I love how baby clothes will just randomly have ears on them. Why not?
My baking partner helping make some blueberry muffins to go with our breakfast. It was early enough that he wasn't ready to put on a shirt yet, but I promise he has pants on.
I don't know if this would fly in a professional kitchen, but we let him get away with it.
One of his jobs is to put the muffin liners in the tins. (He had already done this, and had moved on to organizing the liners. As you can see.)
In our old house, we discovered that if the pan with the liners in it was on the counter when you closed the pantry door, the breeze from the door would blow the liners all over.
This was approximately the funniest thing ever when Pippo first saw it happen about a year ago, and it never lost its charm.
Have you ever tried regrowing your green onions from the roots after you use them? Just pop them in water. It totally works, and at a very gratifying speed — in just a few hours you can usually see a little bit of new growth, and it doesn't take very many days to have nice, tall green onions again. A very low-effort, high-reward experiment.
You just need to change the water every day or two, so it doesn't get too yucky. (It will.) Ideally you'd probably stick them in the ground at some point. We've never gotten that far — somehow that seems like a big commitment to me.
You know, deciding where to plant the green onions. Can't get that wrong!
