It's a new rhythm around here. Children going off, grandchildren arriving…
We visited Miss B. at college, briefly, just to drop off some things she needed and give her a hug from Freddie while he was up north. She's settling in.
Mama? Finding it hard to get used to not having my right-hand man around at all times. I vacuum the den in her honor!
Let me catch you up on some of what's coming this weekend! Are you in South Carolina? Want to come listen to me talk about some things? The Friday night talk is FREE! The conference the next day will also have a talk by moi, so do come! I would love to meet you. If you already have a book, bring it and I will sign it. If you don't, I will have a few for sale!
Then, Sunday evening the 21st, Phil and I will be speaking at St. Mary's in Norwalk, Connecticut at 7 pm.
Am I the kind of person who is in South Carolina one day and Connecticut the next? No, not really. But to meet you and talk about what it is going to take to make things better in this crazy world of ours, I will do it!
The main draw here, though, is going to be Phil talking about the book he's working on now, Counter-Cultural Catholics. I will be along for the ride, but ever the loquacious one, you can bet I'll get my two cents in!
I hope to see you! If you come, be sure to tell me you are a reader here, so I know! And check the Speaking page to see upcoming gigs and for info if you want me to come speak at a place near you.

I know just how you’re feeling…the door is ever-revolving with grown kids coming and going. And still young ones coming and going as well. I’m the only constant as I go through the door as little as possible. Prayers for safe travel.

Missing my right hand person as well, it was a nice opportunity for the next in line to step up though, and she has.
I hope you enjoy South Carolina, I’m sure they’ll enjoy. I’ll actually be in Savannah late next week, a bit warmer than we have here.
Julie says
Why, Oh Why can’t you come to the northwest? (Please read this in the most whiney voice possible)
Leila says
Julie, we are working on it! Remember, *I* don’t up and decide where to go — someone invites me 🙂 And pays my way 🙂
Julie says
Teehee! Ah, yes. Trust me, If I had the cash I think it would be a worthy investment. Prayers go with you this weekend.
Leila says
I hear you 🙂
And something *is* in the works, so if there is a possibility that your group could have me out, email me and maybe we can all be in touch.

Forgive me for being nosy, but I noticed in the pictures neither of the ladies are wearing wedding rings. Is that a cultural thing in your family? Perhaps you have blogged about it before and I just haven’t seen it.
Leila says
Lucy, Bridget is not married! She’s a freshman in college, 17 🙂 We were visiting her at college to give her a chance to dandle Freddie. I was taking the picture — so my rings are not visible.
And the other lady is Habou, also not married!

Hope you get to see some of Charleston – the “battery”/downtown area has a lot of atmosphere! (I am from the Carolinas).

You might see me! Question: the Friday night talk is the entire time from 7-9 pm, right? I wasn’t sure if there were other talks in that timeframe as well.
I’m going to see if the Charlotte, NC pocket can meet up there :-).
Leila says
No, the bishop is speaking — we’ll give him a little time too 😉
Karen in SC says
I’ll be coming down from Greenville. I can’t wait!
