Every Thursday, here at Like Mother, Like Daughter!
Pippo was very excited to have his little shelves back in his room. |
Or so I told myself.
It worked. (I confess, I've been waiting for/counting on this nesting period ever since we moved in. I do well with deadlines!) Our furniture layout is starting to make sense (we've had a surprisingly difficult time figuring out how to use our space well here) and I think I have about 2/3 of our framed things up on the walls at this point, and plans for most of the rest.
Pippo “helps” me decide where to hang things and hands picture hangers to me when I need them. Now he walks around looking critically at groupings of frames and saying with authority, “I fink it's a good arrangement!”
These sorts of things happen when a two-year-old spends all his time hanging out with a crazy nesting lady who just moved into a new house.
That trunk was our coffee table when I was growing up, until I was probably about 15 years old. When my parents replaced it with something else, I ended up taking it to college with me (as I believe my mother had years before that) and have had it ever since. It got pulled back into coffee table duty this week.
The boy loves his books!
I bought this holy water font in Portugal ten years ago, when I was on tour there with my college choir. I got it safely home, and squirreled it away in my hope chest (more like a “hope pile”) for when I had house and a family of my own. It was so well-squirreled, in fact, that it was in the back of my old closet in my parents' house until last year, and then I never managed to find a spot for it in California.
But this week, I hung it up, and that makes me very happy. It makes Pippo happy, too — he loves blessing himself with the holy water.
You may recall that Pippo has an official Funny Face. Some time ago, he announced “This is my new Funny Face.” This is it. It is his official New Funny Face, as opposed to his Old Funny Face (which he usually makes right afterwards, so you can compare them).
This time around I've been having trouble thinking of what to eat for dinner tonight, let alone in a few weeks. The hot weather combined with the baby taking up so much room inside me means I don't have too much of an appetite for hearty, freezable meals.
