The weekly “little of this, little of that” feature at Like Mother, Like Daughter!

This week's links!
- Mom (aka Auntie Leila… never sure how to refer to her here!) suggests that this rousing commencement speech could be read with profit by just about anyone!
- Speaking of rousing speeches (and just so that we get a FT article in here, ya know), I was inspired by this speech We Will Surrender Nothing by Ludovine de la Rochere, delivered on France's Mother's Day a few weeks ago. There's nothing like French rhetoric, particularly when at the service of such a cause.
- Did all of you come across this article about how to identify the signs of drowning (and the fact that drowning doesn't look the way we might expect it to)? It was buzzing around quite a bit this week – useful.
- Here's a fun tongue-twister and mind-bender of a poem, exploring the absurdities of the English language. (Thanks, Lauren!)
- On the recipe front, I just thought that I'd report that I made these homemade hot dog buns (they didn't come out perfectly, but I think they're definitely worth trying again [particularly when paired with the tasty organic hotdogs available at Trader Joe's], if only for the loads of praise that were heaped upon my head by The Artist for that all-American dinner); Auntie Leila recently came across this recipe for homemade ricotta (why do I not own a cheesecloth by now?!); and I just rediscovered an old bookmark I had made on this recipe for soft batch dark brown sugar coconut oil cookies… so those might have to happen soon.
Have a great weekend!
