So.
We found a house!
After talking over all our options for the next few years, we decided that buying a house (as opposed to renting one, or living on base at this next duty station) actually seems like it makes the most sense for our family. The Lt flew out there to take a look, by which I mean that he (and his dad, who kindly met him there and helped him with the house hunting) looked at thirty-four houses in three days.
Thirty. Four. Houses.
After talking me through thousands (not kidding; my father-in-law is nothing if not thorough with his camera. I was very grateful!) of photos on the phone over the course of three evenings, we put an offer on our clear favorite on day four, had it accepted, and have been signing papers ever since. My understanding is that we just keep signing papers until they give us a set of keys.
Saint Joseph (Happy Feast Day!) was really looking out for us, because I think this house is going to be great for our family. It's got everything important taken care of, so I'm left worrying about little things, like the fact that it's all laid out on one level, and how will the new baby learn to climb stairs??
Oh yes, that's right. Even more exciting than a house! We're having another baby!

Have I told you that yet? I don't think so. (Actually, I know so, because my mother has gently reminded me eleventeen times that it would perhaps, just maybe, be an interesting thing to post about.)
It seems, though, that every time I've sat down to tell you, I've fallen asleep. My best blogging time is Pippo's naptime, which also happens to be my naptime these days. Every so often I put him down and think, “oh, I can make it through this day without a nap,” but usually I'm wrong.
In the past few weeks, the things I have shed tears over include (but are not limited to): Top Chef (to be specific, the preview for the following week's Top Chef), how much I miss chocolate during the week (note to self: do not give up chocolate for Lent while pregnant. Or else, do, because it's really hard. And thank you again, St. Joseph! Happy Feast Day!), and this poem (thanks a lot, Papa).
My poor husband.
I have been told my emotional instability implies we are having a girl this time around. On the other hand, in our (admittedly limited) experience, when we have a baby it is a boy. We'll see. Either way, we will be delighted.
A little sweet, a little substantial, and easy to convince myself to eat. During my first trimester, I made a lot of muffins. |
I'm coming up on twenty weeks now, which means we're expecting Pippo's little brother or sister to arrive sometime around August 9 or so — just a few weeks behind his cousin!
Now all we need are some friends in Oklahoma, preferably ones who have stairs in their house.
