We are currently posted to the tropical north of Australia; Darwin specifically – where some Marines are posted on rotation too. My children don't even really know what it is to be cold, as minimum temperatures during the dry (the coolest period) are still in the high 20s (80s in F). They have only experienced it on brief visits to my parents back down south. As such, I don't think my daughter would be able to get her head around the concept of snow even though she has seen it in many a book:)

They, too, LOVE the snow…just returned from tubing (it would be nice to have it in our backyard, though).
