People.
Can you believe it?
Another engagement!
Yes!
Our beautiful Suzanne!
John is in medical school — in the Army!
We couldn't be happier! We have maximum happiness right now!
{And — a little bit of overwhelmed. Just a little. Because of the whole two weddings thing.}
Here they are in the heat of July. Aren't they just the cutest?
Want to know something funny? John's sister had met Rosie and Deirdre in DC several years ago and then started reading Like Mother, Like Daughter… and told John when he got there that he should meet the Lawler girls for sure. He ignored her at first. He's a busy guy.
But when he met Sukie, he thought that maybe there could be something in what his sister was saying after all! …and then he knew that she is the one for him.
He is just that combination of thoughtful and fun-loving that makes him perfect for our girl!
Viz, he came back from a rotation in San Antonio with a gift for her… of cowboy boots!
I mean, how fabulous does it get?
Congratulations Sukie and John! We love you!

Congratulations!

Hooray! I've been waiting for this post! Congratulations Suki and John! I am so happy for you both. It will certainly be a fabulous summer…
Elizabeth says
Wow! Congratulations to them both.
(When I was 4, my dad's three younger sisters all got married in the same summer. In some ways, it must be easier to plan for more than one wedding at once. Kind of like preparing double the recipe at the same time? Hopefully? I hope your planning isn't too overwhelming!)
Suki says
Thank you!
Holy cow, that must have been quite a summer!
Dawn says
Wow! Exciting times in your world!
Blessings,
Dawn

Yay! My sister and I both got married the same year. Three weeks apart. It was a horrible thing to do to our mother, thinking back–but we made it work, and were each other's maid (and matron) of honor.
Jessica says
Wow, congratulations! Such a happy time for your family.

What happy news. And, I must say, that seeing that picture of your three kids and two future kids-in-law almost brings tears to my eyes. As a mom in the thick of unrelenting sibling squabbles with my four (so far) I am so encouraged by seeing that beautiful adult friendships are, most likely, waiting for them down the road.
Deanna says
Congratulations to the happy couple and their families! This must be an exciting time for all!

Congratulations! He did a great job with the ring AND the boots! Both are very classic. He looks so big next to her, and I don't know why but I find that romantic and sweet.

Congratulations! Two weddings will be stressful, but such a happy time for you all! They are an adorable couple. Suki must either be tiny or John is very big. They look so cute side by side. You must be such a proud and happy mama, Auntie Leila.

A ring AND boots! That's for real. 😉 What a gorgeous family, what a happy occasion! Though I don't envy how frantic you may feel, I am in awe at what a family you and Chief have raised (and welcomed in!), and you're an amazing role model to me.
Man, your table is going to be PACKED. 🙂 What a glorious thing.
Congratulations to all!

Congratulations! They are such an adorable couple. Yes, Sukie is small as is Deirdre. They are cute next to their manly men.;) And, please tell Sukie that I love her boots. Boots are the best. They feel great. get better as you wear them in, and are great for dancing. I believe she does dance…those boots will be perfect! Blessings to all of you.

Forgot to say – A very pretty ring, Sukie!
Mary says
Hurray and congratulations! You all are a beautiful family. Add another vote for a double wedding. Think of it as save-a-step matrimony, Auntie Leila. 😉 (I hope that's not tacky to say lol. I really do think a double wedding would be lovely.)
Suki says
Thank you!
Save-a-step matrimony…haha, I like it!
RubberChickenGirl says
And boots to boot (forgot to mention the boots!)….serious business. Maybe you can wear them at the wedding ala Urban Cowboy :O).

Nancy in AK says
Congratulations! They all look so happy. I say – Double Wedding! I attended a double wedding (in Millis, Ma) about 15 years ago of two sisters. It was really fun. They made it somewhat individual as each bride had different taste in dresses and cakes. One was more modern and one was more traditional. It was at a Catholic Church and both couples stood up at the alter at the same time for their vows. At first, the girls (whose father was deceased I think) were going to walk each other down the aisle, but they thought that would look like they were marrying each other! So I think a brother walked one down and someone else walked the other bride down. they said it made sense for them because they would have invited many of the same friends and brides' relatives to two weddings so it was more economical, but also it was more fun.

Congratulations! As the spouse of an Army doctor, I commend Sukie's good taste :-P. Just be prepared for a few (million) extra acronymns in life. Sukie and John look great together – all joy and blessings in the months preparing for marriage and a lifetime together!
Suki says
Thank you!
Oh my gosh, the acronyms! Am I ever going to learn them all??

I love seeing marriage-minded young adults! My oldest is only 11, but I often pray for his (and my other children's) future spouses . . . hope they choose as wisely as yours are!
Best wishes to Sukie!

Oh how exciting! Congratulations to the newly engaged couple. That is a beautiful ring, so delicate and feminine and of course plenty of bling, and I am seriously jealous of the cute boots too 🙂 I agree with Nancy, it's so encouraging to see your children getting married as young adults, I get sad when I realize my own siblings won't be married any time soon (I've been married 4.5 years already) and don't want any kids either. My poor children, I'll just have to give them extra siblings to make up for the lack of cousins 😉
Suki says
Thank you, everyone! We are incredibly happy!
